Japanese Robotic Barista "NEXTAGE" at your service

In the Japan Robot Week 2014, held in Tokyo from Oct. 15 to Oct. 17, Kwada Robotics presented its agile two-armed robot, NEXTAGE, to serve coffee to impressed visitors.

Equipped with multiple cameras to detect movements in its two arms, NEXTAGE was capable of avoiding collision against its human colleagues and visitors alike.  Meanwhile, visitors could also customize their coffee orders by pressing the buttons on the tablet screen in front of it.

However, thirsty coffee drinkers beware—right now it still takes a good 3 minutes for the robot to make a cup of instant coffee.
